The East Bay Regional Park District must appoint an individual to fill the vacant position on the Board of Directors representing Ward 1 of the Park District. Ward 1 generally encompasses the communities of: Albany, Berkeley, El Cerrito, Emeryville, most of Pinole, Richmond, San Pablo, Bayview-Montalvin, East Richmond Heights, El Sobrante, Kensington, North Richmond, Rollingwood, and Tara Hills.
The Park District Board of Directors consists of seven representatives, elected by ward, who are responsible for the policy direction of the Park District. Under statutory procedures established in California Government Code section 1780, the Ward 1 directorship will be subject to election in 2020.
A Nominating Committee of the Board of Directors plans to interview selected candidates on Monday, December 9, 2019 and Tuesday, December 10, 2019. Interviews of finalists and appointment will be made at a special Board meeting open to the public on Tuesday, January 7, 2020. Candidates should be available on these dates for interviews to be considered for appointment.
Individuals interested in being considered for this appointment must submit an application to the Park District. Applicants must be over the age of 18, able to establish their residency within the boundaries of Ward 1, and a registered voter by the day of appointment.
