• Anthony Chabot Family Campground is OPEN at full capacity. Click here to register online.
Del Valle Family Campground is OPEN with limited capacity due to construction of the water system. Click here to register online. There is NO water in the park. NO showers, NO flush toilets (port-o-potties available), NO sewage dump station, and NO water spigots/drinking fountains. Please bring all the water you need for your stay.
• Backpack Camping is OPEN at full capacity in all locations by advance phone reservation.
• Limited Group Camping  is OPEN on a rolling 4-week window with a camping start date of Tuesday, June 1st by advance phone reservation.

East Bay Regional Park District offers a wide variety of camping options.


Types of camping offered

  • Group campsites are available for groups with 9 or more people.
    There are sites available at eleven different parks throughout the East Bay.
    • Group camping FAQs and important reservation information.
    • Fees
    • Group campsite reservations must be made at least 3 days prior to your arrival date.
        Example: The last day to reserve for a Friday arrival date is the previous Tuesday.
  • Backpacking sites are available at some parks throughout the East Bay.

    • Fees
    • Backpack camping reservations must be made at least 2 days prior to your arrival date.
        Example: The last day to reserve for a Friday arrival date is the previous Wednesday.
  • Cabin camping is available at Del Valle Regional Park. There are five cabins available.

    • Cabin camping reservations must be made at least 3 days prior to your arrival date.
      Example: The last day to reserve for a Saturday arrival date is the Wednesday (of the same week)
  • Equestrian (Horse) camping is available at four different parks throughout the East Bay.

        Example: The last day to reserve for a Friday arrival date is the previous Tuesday.
    • NOTE: in order to reserve an equestrian site, a horse must be at the site and staying overnight.
      Caballo Loco requires a minimum of 5 horses to reserve.

Free Camping Partnership for Non-Profits

The Outdoor Recreation Department offers a 3-year partnership program to Alameda and Contra Costa County non-profits where our staff provide one free camping trip and three-day trips to your organization for three consecutive years. Not only do the kids or families receive a memorable experience in the great outdoors, but partner staff also receive valuable training and resources to eventually lead their own camping trips. Through the Community Outreach Outdoor Program (CO-OP), the Park District provides a bus, all camping gear, food, program leadership, and training. The non-profit partner provides promotion and registers campers, attends trainings, and then helps lead the trips. If your non-profit organization is interested, apply for this partnership.
