The Regional Parks Foundation is thrilled to receive a $20,000 grant from Marathon Petroleum Company to purchase 3 e-bikes for Public Safety and to provide free family memberships for underserved community members.
These e-bikes doubled the capacity of the bike patrol program and they are a vital asset to reach park users and provide assistance in remote areas of the parklands. With the Park District spanning 125,000 acres and 1,333 miles of trails, the e-bikes have been invaluable in responding to park visitor needs.
Additionally, funds supported 50 annual family memberships (valued at $100) for underserved community members to have access to their East Bay Regional Parks. These memberships will cover park entry and parking fees, discounts on other services, and a pathway to connect with award-winning EBRPD interpretive education programs.
We are grateful for the support of Marathon Petroleum Company and for their commitment to public safety and community access programs.
Marathon’s Martinez facility recently announced it is transitioning its operation to renewable fuels. Visit Martinez Renewable Fuels for more information.
